EASLEY — The Easley Fire Department responded to a building fire at 165 Dancer Drive (Recycle First) within the Easley Fire District around 3:42 p.m. Feb. 23.

Two engines, one ladder, one service truck and three administrative units responded to the scene. Upon arrival, heavy smoke was seen coming from the rear of the building. Fire personnel performed an interior attack and located fire in the loading dock area

Capt. Michael Trapp of the Easley Fire Department said the sprinkler system activated, and was keeping the fire under control. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes, and was confined to the area of origin by the sprinkler system.

Salvage, overhaul and positive pressure ventilation operations were performed to remove smoke and heat to assure no fire extension. The bales of materials involved were removed by company forklift and then separated for extinguishment. Pickens County EMS was requested to standby at the scene.

Two employees who were inside the building at the time of the fire were checked by Pickens County EMS and released. No other injuries were reported.
