CENTRAL – Southern Wesleyan University has several events planned in February that could be of interest to the community.

Musica Ecclesia will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at Newton Hobson Chapel and Fine Arts Center on the university’s campus in Central

Musica Ecclesia is a choir festival that brings together church choirs from the surrounding area. It is an opportunity for the singers and congregations to come together to celebrate the unity they have in Jesus Christ.

Each choir presents favorite anthems and then joins the other choirs, including the SWU Concert Choir, in singing a closing anthem. Admission is free.

SWU’s Wind Ensemble Pops Concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 22 at Newton Hobson Chapel and Fine Arts Center on the university’s campus in Central.

The group will answer the call with a wonderful program of movie music, marches, show tunes, and perhaps even some tunes from today’s radio playlist. The program is fast paced, informational and great fun for performers and audience as well. Admission is free.

The 16th Annual SWU Jazz Invitational will take place in Newton Hobson at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 25 with some of the top local jazz bands combining talents for a wonderful night of live jazz.

Young students through experienced professional players will play three song sets in this fast moving evening that includes pizza and drinks available along with dinner table seating.

Sponsored in part by the SWU Music club, the concert begins at 6:30 and runs until it is over. Admission is free.

All events are subject to change. Visit swu.edu/calendars or call (864) 644-5408 for more information.
