ROCK HILL — The Ag + Art Tour is now accepting applications for farms sites interested in participating in the 2016 Ag + Art Tour.
Interested in participating, but not sure if your site is eligible? A farm site on the Ag + Art Tour is any business that relies on natural resources of the land — family farms, farm stands, vineyards, wineries, timber, on-farm breweries, and orchards are all eligible to participate.
Set to take place throughout the month of June 2016 at local farms and farm stands in 9 counties across South Carolina — Chester, Chesterfield, Darlington, Fairfield, Horry, Kershaw, Lancaster, Union and York Counties, visitors have the chance to see first-hand where their food comes from, watch artists in action, purchase homemade and homegrown goods, and learn more about rural life.
The Tour will be held each weekend in June, on Saturdays, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and from 1-5 p.m. on Sundays. Different counties are participating each weekend, giving visitors the opportunity to explore more farms and farm stands across the state.
The Ag + Art Tour of York County will be held on Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12. This is a free event.
The Ag + Art Tour began in 2012 in York County as a weekend-long, self-guided tour that brought visitors to farms and farm stands across the county where they were able to see first-hand where their food came from, and engaged with artists who were working and performing on-site.
This is the largest tour of its kind in the United States, and it continues to grow across South Carolina each year.
Farms interested in participating in the York County Ag + Art Tour must be located in York County, South Carolina. There is no fee to participate. Applications must be submitted by February 12, 2016. Find out more and apply online at http://www.agandarttour.com/farms.
Once farm sites have been identified, the Ag + Art Tour will issue a call for artists and artisans, who will be placed at farm sites on the Tour.
