PICKENS COUNTY — The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an Easley man following an investigation into the allegation that he paid a 16-year-old juvenile for sexual favors in June 2015.

During the initial investigation, which began Dec. 28, 2015, activity involving a second juvenile under the age of 11 was also discovered.

The additional investigation revealed that at least two incidents involving sexual misconduct with a child under the age of 11 occurred between 2008 and 2012. It is believed that all incidents occurred at #124 Barlet Lane where the charged adult was living at the time that the activity occurred.

Daniel L. Barlet, 63, was arrested at the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 15 and is currently being held at the Pickens County Detention Center on one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. Bond was set at $10,000 on the first charge but was denied on the second charge.

The Sheriff’s Office declined to comment further on the relationship between Barlet and his victims other than to say they were not strangers.
