The next divisional game for the Blue Flame is Daniel — but first, they have to get past Travelers Rest.

The Blue Flame had high hopes going into Friday’s match up at home against the Wren Hurricanes but the visiting team — in particular their quarterback — proved to be too much for Pickens to handle.

Pickens (1-7, 0-3) continues to struggle for what appears to be the remainder of the 2016 season and is one step closer to finishing out the year with not a single conference win following losses to regional match-ups to Greenville, Belton Honea-Path and Wren.

PICKENS — The Pickens Blue Flame had high hopes going into Friday’s match up at home against the Wren Hurricanes but the visiting team — in particular their quarterback — proved to be too much for Pickens to handle.

Pickens (1-7, 0-3) continues to struggle for what appears to be the remainder of the 2016 season. They are one step closer to finishing out the year without a single conference win following losses to regional foes Greenville, Belton-Honea Path and Wren.

The next divisional game for the Blue Flame is Daniel — but first, they have to get past Travelers Rest.

The Devildogs are sitting on a 2-6 record this year and are also still on the hunt for their first (and at this point, it would be their only) region win having lost games to Eastside, Blue Ridge and Greer.

Both teams are hungry, both teams have had a rough 2016 season and both teams want to go out with just one (or two) more wins under their belt.

As far as stats go, Pickens and Travelers Rest are pretty evenly matched up and with a post-season appearance off the table for these teams, for all intents and purposes, Friday’s game should be a lot of fun to watch as they both leave it all on the field.

Kickoff for Pickens versus Travelers Rest is 7:30 p.m. Oct. 21.
