DACUSVILLE — The annual Dacusville Farm Show, presented by the Heritage Association, returns to the Upstate this weekend and according to volunteer Tom Turner, this year is looking to have the biggest turnout yet.
“We’ve been growing every year,” said Turner, whose 55-acre farm plays host to the Farm Show. “Last year we had 3,000 people. I think it’s going to be even bigger this year.”
The Farm Show, or “Farm Days” as it’s commonly known throughout the area, used to be held on Robinson Field before moving to its present home on the Turner farm three years ago.
“We have been working hard to get everything ready,” said Turner. “We have about 10 people volunteering and somewhere around 60 vendors.”
Turner expects the vendor list to be closer to 100 come Saturday.
“They’ll (the vendors) have everything. Honey, molasses, barbecue, arts and crafts and some of the best food vendors in the area. There will also be displays — sawmills, steam engines, antique tractors and old farming equipment,” said Turner. “There’s something for everyone.
“It shows the history of farming,” stated Turner. “It (the farm show) goes back in the past to show all the old steam engines, tractors and old equipment. That’s how farming used to be done.”
Farm Days also will have new and used equipment for sale including tractors and lawn mowers, evening karaoke, live music, classic cars and an old fashioned dunking booth.
Kids won’t be left out as Farm Days will have inflatables and tractor rides for the kids as well as homemade ice cream.
The Dacusville Farm Show will go on rain or shine, but Turner is hoping for the latter.
“We’re praying for good weather, but around here you just never know from one day to the next.”
Farm Days is located at 3147 Earls Bridge Road and runs Sept. 5 and Sept. 6. Gates open at 8 a.m.
