EASLEY — Connor Williams is just the sort of young man you need on your side in the event of a crisis.

Williams, who is an Easley High School student and a member of the Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, was a passenger on a bus going home one day when it was evident that a fellow student was in trouble.

“A girl on the bus began having a seizure. By the time I got to her she had stopped seizing, but was unconscious,” Williams said. “John Baker (bus driver), Rhiannon Echols (fellow Easley High student) and I moved her into the isle and rolled her on her side to prevent chocking. When she regained consciousness, we had her sit down and I checked her for coherency until EMS arrived on the scene.”

Williams has received formal training in Red Cross First Responder Medical training and Professional Rescuer CPR through the Pickens County Career Center.

Williams was formally recognized for his efforts at a ceremony before his NJROTC classmates on Feb. 24 at Easley High School. Baker and Echols were also recognized in the same manner.

Aaron Boyle, Pickens County Director of Transportation Services, presented all three with letters of appreciation from the School District of Pickens County for their efforts in assisting the student in distress.

Williams is the son of Chris Williams and Brandy Searfoss both of Easley. He is a Senior at EHS and plans to attend the Citadel in Charleston when he graduates.
