EASLEY — More than 40 students, teachers, counselors and parents gathered at the Hampton Memorial Library in Easley as the Fort Prince Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution presented awards to eight exceptional students in Pickens County.
The American History award, for students exhibiting outstanding interest in the study of history, was awarded to Lindsay McGuinn of Gettys Middle School, Mara Culbertson of Liberty Middle School and Micah Jordan of Pickens Middle School.
The JROTC Award is presented to those cadets who represent the patriotic, educational and historical objectives of DAR. The cadets demonstrating these objectives were Jacob Chapman of Liberty High School and Davis Hendricks of Pickens High School.
The DAR Good Citizen Award is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. The students selected must be dependable, courteous, have the ability to assume responsibility and display an outstanding and unselfish interest in family, school and community.
The three students who best exhibited these characteristics were Bailey Bradfield of Easley High School, Jacob Chapman of Liberty High School and Sarah Dooley of Pickens High School.
