COLUMBIA — The Judicial Merit Selection Commission is accepting applications for several judicial positions whose terms will expire in next year. To receive application materials, a prospective candidate must notify the Commission in writing of his or her intent to apply. The Commission will not accept applications after noon Aug. 10, 2015.
The vacancies are as follows:
Sixth Judicial Circuit – Chester, Fairfield and Lancaster Counties
• Judge Brian M. Gibbons, Circuit Court, Seat 1, expires June 30, 2016.
Eighth Judicial Circuit – Abbeville, Greenwood, Laurens and Newberry counties
• Judge Frank R. Addy Jr., Circuit Court, Seat 1, expires June 30, 2016.
• Judge John M. Rucker, Family Court, Seat 2, expires June 30, 2016.
10th Judicial Circuit – Anderson and Oconee counties
• Judge Karen F. Ballenger, Family Court, Seat 2, expires June 30, 2016.
13th Judicial Circuit – Greenville and Pickens counties
• Judge D. Garrison “Gary” Hill, Circuit Court, Seat 4, expires June 30, 2016.
• Judge Harry L. “Don” Phillips, Family Court, Seat 3, expires June 30, 2016.
• Judge Alvin D. Johnson, Family Court, Seat 4, expires June 30, 2016.
• Judge Alex Kinlaw Jr., Family Court, Seat 6, expires June 30, 2016.
16th Judicial Circuit – Union and York counties
• Judge John C. Hayes III, Circuit Court, Seat 1, expires June 30, 2016.
• Judge Daniel Dewitt Hall, Circuit Court, Seat 2, expires June 30, 2016.
• Judge Thomas H. White, Family Court, Seat 1, expires June 30, 2016.
A vacancy will exist in the office currently held by the Honorable Ellis B. Drew Jr., Master-in-Equity, Anderson County and Oconee County, Tenth Circuit, upon Drew’s retirement on or before June 30, 2016. The successor will serve a new term of that office, which expires June 30, 2022.
