EASLEY — The 2016 football season has come to a close for the Easley Green Wave following a 31-7 loss in the first round of the playoffs at Greenwood.

Easley struggled on pass defense against the Eagles and Greenwood scored late in the first with a 34 yard touchdown pass. Their lead grew to 10-0 at the half.

The third quarter was a rough one for the Green Wave: A 75-yard touchdown pass increased their lead to 17-0 early in the second half and then another trip to the house from 8 yards out had the Eagles sitting pretty on a 24-0 lead to close out the third.

It was starting to look like the game was going to be a shut out. Midway through the fourth Greenwood scored again, driving the score up to 31-0.

Call it pride, call it determination, call it what you like — the Green Wave refused to go quietly and a 57 yard touchdown pass finally saw some Easley points go up on the board with two minutes of game play remaining.

The final score would stand at 31-7.

Easley caps off their year with a final record of 5-7, 2-2 in regional play.
